Chlorine
In town the big problem is chlorine, which is quite properly used to disinfect the water before it gets to our homes, but should just as properly be removed before drinking.

The Sterilight S12Q-PA Ultraviolet (UV) water sterilizer is a popular and economical choice for average whole house water purification to kill bacteria (including coliform and e.coli), viruses, cryptosporidium, giardia, and a wide range of other microbioogical contaminants, where the maximum required flow rate is not greater than 15.1 gallons per minute (GPM) or 57.0 litres per minute (LPM).
