Balayage & Ombre Hair Colouring is available at Hair Studio Whakatane. Pronounced as BAH-LEE-AHGE, balayage is actually a French word meaning ‘sweeping,’ referring to sweep on hair lightener and then creating highlights.

Balayage is a free-hand painting technique to get highlights onto the hair, creating a soft and natural gradation of lightness towards the ends. Resulting in hair that looks lke you have been at the beach in the summer months. is the look of summers spenor the fresh, unintentionally perfect highlights basically. This soft and natural-looking highlighting technique used on all shades of hair to add soft, sunkissed dimension- it is not just for blonde hair.

There are different ways of application that in result produce slightly varied results, but one of the main reasons balayage is so popular today, is that it allows colorists to hand select the pieces of hair they want to highlight. Due to the customized placement of highlights, balayage also allows for a softer regrowth so that results in less maintenace.

Ombré on the other hand is a more drastic, edgier version of balayage explained above. Ombre has a way starker transition of dark to light, sometimes with a harder line where the transition starts. Some people prefer the drastic difference btween colourz and the less subtle transition from dark to light.
