AUDITION DATES:
Friday 14th August, 7pm – 9pm
Saturday 15th August, 10am – 2pm
Gateway Theatre, 30 Gateway Drive, Whakatane

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Soloists, duets, group, and comedy acts. Ideally, all acts, (except for acted skits) will fit into the musical theatre genre as we want to showcase what we do best, but please let us know if you think you have a non-musical song/act that would be suitable. Ages 15+, please.

For people who wish to solo or duet, please come prepared with the act you would like to perform in the show, we are not expecting it to be performance perfect but would like to see the potential in the piece you have prepared.

We will also be doing a few ensemble numbers, if you would like to be involved on stage but do not wish to solo, please audition with any song of your choosing.

You do not need to book in for an audition time, simply show up at some point during the times listed above and we will see you. Wait times should be no more than 5-10 minutes.

Please bring your own backing music, we will provide a speaker with an AUX cord and an iPhone adaptor. There will be no pianist so backing tracks are required.

If you cannot attend an audition in person, we are happy to accept video auditions. Please submit to the email listed below prior to the audition dates.

We are also looking for 2 MC’s to host the event, these people will need to be quick on their feet and be comfortable engaging with our audience. You do not need to audition to MC, instead please contact us to chat further about this role.

REHEARSALS:

There will be a couple of vocal rehearsals to learn the ensemble pieces in September. Numbers that require choreography will be rehearsed once a week throughout October (excluding Vicar of Dibley show nights). November will be Saturday and Sunday rehearsals from 1pm – 5pm. Please note that not everybody will be required for the full duration of every rehearsal as it will depend on what numbers you are involved in. This may be subject to change depending on availability of cast so if you have any questions about the rehearsal schedule please let us know, we will try to be as flexible as we can to accommodate the performers.

Full availability is required the week of 23rd November for tech and dress rehearsals – exact dates and times to be advised. Performance season is 8 shows over 2 weeks from the 3rd – 12th December.
