Ohiwa Harbour Working Bee

Thursday, November 17, 2016 to Sunday, November 27, 2016

The mangrove working bees are back! Join the Ōhiwa community for some fun in the mud. Learn about mangroves and help to preserve the beautiful Ōhiwa Harbour. Easy loppers work. Refreshments provided. Please bring sunscreen, hat and a smile.

We’ll finish this first working bee with a celebratory BBQ. After a few more ‘tidying up’ sessions on the eastern side, we’ll move round to the western side – between Paparoa Rd and the oyster farm - February to April 2017.

Upokorehe hold a resource consent which allows them to remove mangroves from selected areas in the Ōhiwa Harbour. Upokorehe has held working bees with the Ōhiwa community since 2011.

Anyone out there with a chain sawing ticket? Please come forward – there are some bigger plants to be removed.
