Common Foot Problems

Foot Mechanics Podiatry can help you with the following problems:

Achilles Pain - Achilles tendinitis is a common injury, particularly for middle aged athletes, and  usually results from overtraining.

Ankle Pain - Ankle pain is normally caused from an accident, when walking on uneven  surfaces, playing sports or someone  standing on the foot.

Arch Pain - Arch pain (usually Plantar Fasciitis) is pain that is usually felt first thing in the morning or after rising up from a prolonged resting position.

Bunions - What is a bunion, how do you know you have one and what can be done to treat  or prevent it?

Calf Strain - Pain in the calf muscle can happen in upper, mid or lower calf. Pain can be caused  by an accident, overuse, training error, poor biomechanics.

Corns and Callus - Corns and Calluses are one of the most common foot problems that Podiarists  treat. Treatment is usually pain free and can give instant relief.

Cracked Heels - Cracked heels are a common foot problem often caused by dry skin around the  heel, which can be further complicated by the presence of callous.

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) - DOMS or delayed onset muscle soreness is a particular type of muscle soreness that sets in hours after exercise.

Diabetic Foot Care - Diabetes Mellitus is a disease that affects the way the body uses food and impacts on many areas of the body including feet.

Flat Feet (Pronation) - Flat feet and pronation are terms often used but poorly understood from a  medical point of view.

Fungal Toe Nails - Fungal nail infections are very common. The infection causes thickened,  discoloration and at times deformity of nails.

Ganglion Cyst - A ganglion cyst is a benign tumor, or lump that can occur anywhere on the body but most commonly found on the hands and on the feet.

Hallux Limitus - Hallux Limitus is often a result of a degenerative-type arthritis condition that  affects the large joint at the base of the big toe.

Hamstring Tear - A hamstring tear is a pull at the back of the upper leg. The causes of a hamstring tear are a tight nerve, sprain, sudden stop and start.

Heel Pain - Plantar Fasciitis (Heel Pain) is one of the most common foot conditions that  Podiatrists deal with. A pain in the heel which is usually most painful.

Ingrown Nails - Ingrown nails are very painful. Treatment is easy, cost effective and in most cases you can be back to work the next day.

Knee Pain - Gradual onset knee pain often indicates a biomechanical cause for the pain. If  your knee pain is not a result of an acute injury.

Lower Back Pain - As Podiatrists we often see people who have had lower back pain for many years,  and often without any specific incidence of injury that started.

Morton's Neuroma - Morton's Neuroma is the most common neuroma in the foot. It occurs in the  forefoot area (the ball of the foot).

Rheumatoid Arthritis - Rheumatoid Arthritis is a condition that causes inflammation in many joints of the  body. Unlike osteoarthritis which is caused by wear and tear.

Sever's Disease - Heel pain in children is most often Sever's Disease. Although Sever's can be  extremely painful the symptoms can be treated successfully.

Shin Pain - Shin Splints is a common term, but not an actual injury, or condition. There are  many injuries that fall into the broad term shin splints.

Thickened Nails - Thickened toenails are very common and can become problematic as they can be very difficult to cut with normal nail clippers.
