Audit & Assurance

Audit and Assurance is the main focus of our firm. Glenn has been auditing since 1997 and his understudy, Toni since 2017. Our firm is registered as an authorised auditor.

Laws and regulations and organisation rules require many organisations to obtain assurance reports. Assurance reports include audits, review and special purpose audits. If your assurance report is required by law or regulation you will need someone like us, as these can only be performed by “authorised auditors”.

Internal Audits: We have spent many years doing internal audit work in the Credit Union (banking) Industry for most of the local industry. This grew from a five year engagement as the external auditor of one of these and included internal control monitoring and consulting work for account preparation and compliance with regulations.

Special Purpose Audits: These are often known as “agreed upon engagements” and include anything that is a partial audit and is often not on a set of financial statements at all. We are experienced in the following areas in particular;

Real Estate Trusts

Private Training Entities; e.g. Student fee protection, TEC ratios

Forensic; e.g. Quarry extraction commission, loss assessments

AML & CFT

Financial Statement Preparation

If your organisation is dependent on accurate financial statements and reports that meet compliance standards and regulations, we can help. We pride ourselves on our accuracy and open disclosure of information that readers can understand. We can prepare financial statements for any size clients, prepared in accordance with any NZ or international accounting financial reporting standard. We can process data received in any form including the following;

Bank Statements and supporting documents;

MYOB, Xero, Accomplish’s Cash Manager

With previous experience in software development we are confident that we can process date delivered in any other format as long as a copy of your programme is supplied.

Tax Services

Gain peace of mind by working with us to meet your tax obligations. We have a wealth of knowledge built up by years of experience and you can rest assured that your tax affairs will be looked after with a high degree of competence. We take a low risk approach but still ensure that any legal reduction of tax due is applied.

Income Tax Returns: We are experienced in all the different sorts of tax returns

GST Returns: GST returns can be a laborious and time-consuming activity and it’s easy to make mistakes. We can help by doing this for you or checking what you have done. We charge $150-$200 plus GST for a two monthly GST return. As the data goes into your year end financial statements this reduces year end costs. We can also supply interim financial statements while doing this to keep you up to date with what is happening in your business.

Structure & Timing: Many people suffer unforeseen tax consequences because of structure or timing mistakes, e.g. having a loan secured against personal rather than business assets, or selling a house too early. We can help here. Come and discuss your plans for your business and we will give you the advice you need to avoid costly mistakes like these.

Business Solutions

Taking the time to get to know you and your business, we can bring a fresh set of eyes to bring insight to help you grow, innovate and plan for the future of your business.

Business Planning: Business planning is an integral part of a successful organisation. We can help you identify your business goals, values and mission and create a strategic business plan to guide you in meeting your business. As your business grows we can help you adjust your plan. We can help identify areas for change and new opportunities.

Restructure & Recovery: Has your business grown more quickly than you anticipated? Is the demand for your products or services decreasing? These are signs of an emerging business crisis and immediate action is required. We have experience in business restructure and are proud that we have been instrumental in a number of local and national businesses’ survival when they have encountered crisis.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Budgeting is a critical part of your business plan as it helps you focus on where you are compared to where you planned to be and enables you to recognise when changes need to occur in order to get where you want to go. By knowing where you are along in your plan will help you be able to assess opportunities as they arise, confident in the ability of your business to cope or not with taking these opportunities up. We can help you to form your budget and update it so that it remains relevant as time progresses and provide advise in assessing whether identified opportunities are viable.

Financial Coaching: Are you so busy in your business that you need a hand in focusing in having a long term view? Come and see us and for $200 plus GST we will help you take a step back and identify how to grow your business in the direction you wish. While we can do one off coaching sessions we recommend at meeting at least every six months until we have built up your confidence enough for you to take sole charge of things.

Succession Planning: Where do you see yourself in the future? With succession planning, we can help you clarify what you want for the future of your business and the steps needed to guide you towards that goal while also taking into account family and business expectations. Succession planning is best started at least five years before you plan to retire from the business.
